About HSC

Healthcare Systems Consortium (HSC) is established at Tunghai University (THU) by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of the Republic of China which established the Production and Technology Alliance Cooperation Program in 2017. It is led by Dr. Weng, Shao-Jen who is an Associate Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Enterprise Information at THU, who has had twenty medical project outcomes and much experience from 2009 to 2016. The team members were sourced from the IE, CS, BA, EE, Med fields, to form today’s cross - disciplinary consortium.The first chairman of this consortium is Lee, San-Kan, Medical Doctor and Adjunct Professor, who is former President of the Taichung Veterans General Hospital (TVGH). Chairman Lee considered identification of resources and throttle to be a sustainable way to operate a hospital during his previous service at TVGH. Further, he felt the improvement of medical information systems was the best way to pare the operating costs. During his diligent stewardship, the medical management of the hospital reached excellence. The consortium also invited Wang, Mao-Jiun, Professor and President of Tunghai University and Wang, Kuo-Ming, Honorary Chair Professor of Tunghai University to be Associate Chairmen. Each team member has undoubtedly been a planner and innovator concerning medical systems construction and improvement over the course of many years! The consortium seeks to clearly understand hospital information systems and patient needs in order to develop products or services that meet these patient requirements. It would also focus on advancing the development of “Lean” medical products under the quality design concept, promoting overall medical quality through research and application, and finally enhancing the national level of medical industry welfare.


Our Mission

Provide Excellent and Innovative Research and Education, Entrepreneurship, and Professional Leadership in Healthcare Systems Consortium. The HSC focuses on recruiting consortium members, promoting consortium core techniques, and helping other industries work together with the medical industry. It would enhance techniques, innovation and service quality. It also offers platforms (including optoelectronics, medical equipment, hosiery, horticulture, education, and the product design industries) to the medical field. Moreover, local governments would be invited to discuss their future medical-related policies through this public platform in order to reduce communication barriers. With government decrees, matching hospitals and manufacturers to develop in line with the needs of medical products or services. Government plays a role in disseminating information about future medical policy and rules. Based on different patient needs, a hospital offers differentiated services. Medical equipment firms would develop more suitable products. Different industries can work together, such as medical products or (i.e. medical socks, shadowless surgical lights, automatic thermometers, etc.) or government long-term care services. Hospitals and government can work together with industry. This consortium would offer a platform to facilitate hosting conferences and workshops, to foster cooperation between industry and academia, and to encourage the medical industry to take advantage of other business opportunities.

A Service for a Medical Rescue Resource Integration Platform (Innovative Business Mechanism)

A goal of HSC is for integration of government and company resources, with respect to personnel, equipment, vehicles, etc. A dynamic information tracking system, which focuses on medical rescue resources, can handle large scare disasters or the long-term care work after such a disaster. This system can be a platform for a social network integration website, such as a medical information company for rescue missions.


Future Objective

It not only shows beds within APP service, but it also schedules medical resources for patients in the hospital. It would shorten waiting time at emergency departments, indirectly solving crowding phenomenon.
